Team Inspiration

Club Day - July 2005

The Third Team Inspiration Club Day was held on Sunday, 17 July 2005, when over 60 Club Members and Sponsors attended.
Once again the Team Inspiration Club Day was blessed with brilliant sunshine.

Bill Rich, Chairman of Team Inspiration, opened the day's proceedings before Glynne Bowsher, the Chief Designer of Inspiration gave a presentation.  Glynne was able to show images of the newly constructed boilers, as well as other detail of the design.

Because of the number of attendees, it had been decided to split the presentations into two sessions.  This gave Club Members and opportunity to wander around the grounds and have photographs taken with two contemporary steam cars.

As usual, a splendid buffet lunch was laid on in the dining room, allowing team members to answer the many questions posed by Sponsors, Team Inspiration members and their guests.

The customary raffle was held after lunch and one happy Team Inspiration Club Member won first prize, a chance to DRIVE a Chieftain tank, and crush a BMW in the process!  As well as the tank rides, people were able to go on a tour of the farm on a tractor, try out the off road buggies on the demanding course, as well as rides in the two steam cars.
After the lunch break, Club members, sponsors and guests walked down to the workshops to see the recent developments in build.
However, the highlight of the day was the opportunity to watch the test rig boiler produce steam.   At this point, members and guests were divided into four groups to ensure that everyone had an opportunity to see the steam in a safe environment.  Ear Defenders were needed by all, as this is a very noisy process.

The production of steam is one of the milestones for the project and all the visitors were thrilled to see such excellent progress.

However, the day wouldn't have been complete without the Tank Drive and Car Crush.  Steve Prentice was the lucky Club Member and he set off with Richard to learn how to drive the tank, before positioning it to drive over the BMW.
Yet another excellent day for the Club.

Also, a big thank you to everyone who has asked about the health of Tom Hassan, the club member who had an accident in the Off Road Buggy. Tom is fine, although his upper arm is broken;  he is now recovering at home.
